Archives for April 2010
There is nothing better for summer than a sexy, strappy heel. There is just something about a strappy stiletto that makes a girl strut her stuff and walk a little taller. Dress them up or down, but always make sure you are wearing the style that is best for your body. Now pedicure those paws and slip them into some straps that will make you strap happy for summertime!
If you have thicker ankles don’t fret, you can still step out in style. Avoid styles that wrap around your ankle as they break up your leg and can make them appear larger. Try a heel in a darker color with thinner straps like this GUESS heel to make your legs look long and lean:
Women with thin legs are the lucky ones, as they can wear just about any style! Try a chunkier style like the Jessica Simpson Stelana sandal to add some weight and avoid wobbling on those waif-y legs.
Workout fiends don’t worry, there is a strappy sandal out there for you too! Make those muscles a little more feminine with a strappy stiletto in a pretty pigment like these Randall Sandals by BCBGirls.
If you are too tall for heels, try a flat strappy sandal with a printed skirt like the GUESS Succeed sandal to help you succeed in all aspects of fashion.
Heels.com has over 1,000 other strappy styles that will make you strap happy for summer. Check them out before they ‘sell’ away!
Back in 2003 when I was still in college (you know studying hard and all) my roommates and I (and like half our sorority sisters) would gather ‘round the TV to watch a little show called Laguna Beach. And what under 25 young girl wasn’t? Then on my honeymoon in 2006, while relaxing in a hotel in California, I flipped to a little show called ‘The Hills’ which justsohappenedto star Cali girl Lauren Conrad from Laguna Beach.
That’s when my Hills obsession started, and sadly 4 years later, and probably much too old to be watching, here I am still indulging in that silly little reality show. And what do you know the new and last season of “The Hills’ starts tonight, although things haven’t really been the same in good ‘ole Hollywood since Lauren left the picture. One of my favorite things about “The Hills’ (and probably why I continued my little obsession) were the fabulous fashions. So what are ‘The Hills’ stars wearing while clicking their heels around Hollywood?
Lauren Conrad is a bohemian beach babe who exudes California style. When not at an event, she tends to wear flowy dresses and flats. Try these rosy Chinese Laundry Sudoku sandals and put your best LC foot forward.
Oh how Heidi Montag has changed over the past six seasons, in more ways than one! Her playboy-esque style typically features tight mini dresses and sky high heels. Get your Heidi-wood on in these white hot Bebe Battista Sandals.
With her edgy appeal and rocker girl image, Audrina Patridge is definitely no plain jane. Even Jessica Simpson would approve of this sky high Tansas heel for Audrina to rock out in.
New kid on the block Kristin Cavallari is anything but nice, which is why these Naughty Monkey Play Date heels would be perfect for that bad girl in you.
Are you anxiously awaiting the season premiere of The Hills? What keeps you coming back?
I have to admit I have a little bit of a wild side…when it comes to heels! From leopard to snakeskin, animal prints are hot this season. To keep it trendy instead of trashy, pair animal print heels with a neutral and a punch of color. Hunt down these animal print heels at heels.com and bring out your own wild side.
Prowl on these snakeskin pumps from GUESS:
Play up the snakeskin with navy and turquoise, paired up with gold accessories for a night on the town!
If slinky snakeskin isn’t your thing, then try romping through the fields in these zebra print Sam Edelman wedges:
These would look great with jeans or show some leg with a pair of silky shorts and a bright colored top.
Don’t forget about those cats (Go Bobcats!) with these versatile leopard print flats from Steve Madden:
Pretty up those paws by pairing leopard print with some black capris, neutral top and bright pink bag. You’ll be the cat’s meow for sure!
When it comes to warm weather footwear, less is definitely more. Some of the hottest sandal styles this season are thong, jeweled and gladiator styles. Sandals can take you way beyond the sand these days, with so many shapes and styles perfect for every occasion. Pair a metallic gladiator with a printed skirt and tee for a more bohemian look, or slip on a more substantial sandal for a little edge to your everyday work ensemble. Whatever you do, give those soles a break and put your best foot forward with these hot sandals from heels.com.
Tribal meets chic with this beautiful turquoise sandal from Charles David. Turquoise+White = so very right!
You might not be Russell Crowe, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be a gladiator in these sandals by GUESS. Add some white skinnies for a perfect summer staple!
Know what it feels like for a girl in these bow detailed sandals from Harajuku Lovers.
Add an unexpected pop of purple to your wardrobe with these violet, studded gladiator sandals from Enzo Angiolini.

While we girls l-o-v-e our heels, sometimes those tootsies just need to rest in a fabulous pair of flats. Having several years of dance behind me, one of my favorite flat styles is a ballet flat. Ballet flats are perfectly work appropriate and a great way to jazz up a pair of jeans, commute around the city, or float around in a flouncy spring dress. Try a peep toe or metallic style to shine up your ensemble or punch it up a notch with a bright and bold hue available now at heels.com!
Enzo Angiolini Simplicia Flat
Just what I have been looking for, a flat close enough to a sandal, yet still fitting for a working girl’s wardrobe.
Everyone will be green with envy when they see you sporting these Jessica Simpson flats around town. Green is also a go-to color for Spring 2010!
This open, airy Dolce Vita flat will keep your toes tranquil in the hot summer months.
Add some funky flair to your basic black with the Dina flat from Dolce Vita. The gold grommets a bit of edge to an otherwise classic black flat.

At only 5’1”, a girl needs a little lift every now and then, especially when her husband towers over her at 6’4”. Luckily wooden platforms are one of the hot trends for spring this year with designers like Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Derek Lam carving up the Spring runways. The best part is that the platform gives you a lift and elongates your legs without the awkwardness of an uncomfortable high heel. Contrast a chunky, wooden platform with a feminine ruffle or floral print for your best spring look and get a little closer to high heel heaven with these platforms from heels.com:
This Pour La Victoire Ange Sandal is the heel of my dreams and the shiny gold studs add a little edge to this beautiful platform. Adding these to my Spring must haves NOW!
