With all this rain lately, things around the Queen City have been feeling a little grey. Nothing beats a grey-ish day like a grey-t pair of footwear to brighten your mood. Since grey is considered a neutral, pair it up with a bright colored or printed top for a pop of color. Even better throw on a leather jacket and some skinny jeans for a tough but feminine look. Or try a navy dress with some grey heels for a classic chic style. These grey choices from heels.com will add an unexpected ending to your next wardrobe episode:
Archives for September 2010
My venture into being a blog reader began several years ago when I came across a magazine article about a healthy living blog. I don’t recall the first time I stumbled upon a personal style blog, but I was hooked instantly and wanted to read more! After all, I have always been a self-proclaimed fashion addict even from an early age. Then voila, I started my own personal style blog and delved into the big fashion-y style blogging world. Over time, I have found some beautiful bloggers with some seriously sassy style. Here are a few of my faves:
A California cool gal with a casual chic style and quite crafty to boot!
This L.A.M.B. Quinlan heel totally exudes Maegan’s casual but trendy style:
Emily is Chicago born and bred, and while not strictly a style blog, this gal deserves a mention. Her love for heels is undeniable and she has quite the eye for a fancy pair of footwear (and a great sale!).
You too can add some emphasis to your look with this great over the knee Siren boot from Restricted.
You can’t go wrong with cupcakes or cashmere and you can’t go wrong with another California gal and another Emily! This Emily mixes designer with discount for a casual chic style that looks like a million bucks every time.
The Glamourai (aka Kelly) is well, glamorous to say the least. She has the ability to mix high fashion with budget finds and self-made jewelry and look like she stepped off the pages of a fashion mag. Her backdrop of New York City doesn’t hurt either!
Get your glamourai on with this Daria black leather studded heel from L.A.M.B.
Fashion designer turned fashion blogger, you just can’t get enough of Keiko Lynn’s funky and fresh style. An added bonus? She is also a great makeup artist and offers up beauty tips on her site!
A mix of funky and classic, this Restricted Valentine heel in blue is definitely something I think you would see Keiko Lynn sporting on the streets of NYC.
Last, but certainly not least, on my list of fave style bloggers is Kendi. Hers is one of those blogs that can speak for itself sans photos (girl is hilarious!), but no need considering her husband is an excellent photographer and she has a great classic style to make this an ‘everyday’ fave.
Get a classic heel like this snakeskin Jessica Simpson and add a slice of humor for a Kendi like look…everyday.
What is your favorite style blog?
There’s something about a stud that brings out the biker chic in even the preppiest prepster. Try this heavy hardware on everything from leggings to boots to jewelry this season to bring out your bad side. Get tough with one of these studded trends for fall:
These Forever21 Studded Leggings are hot for going out on the town, and paired with a tunic and booties, you can’t go wrong.
Pair this Luichiny Fantastic Boot in Grey with a black pencil skirt and add a little edge to your everyday work look.
This MICHEAEL Michael Kors Stud Embellished Dress is perfect for work or play. Keep it neutral with a grey knit tight and simple black heel for daytime or pump it up with some brightly colored legwear and a platform pump for night.
The Dolce Vita Wren Boot in Grey paired with a black legging or dark skinny jean is perfect for the cooler months, or try it with a black shift dress for a more polished look.
Throw on this Rebecca Minkoff Studded Cuff with any of your fall favorites to add a sense of edge to your look.
The N.Y.L.A. Xiomara in Black and Gold is the perfect complement to a floral fall frock and tights, or throw on a pair of leggings and an oversized white oxford to get a casual cool style.
A little bit of studding goes a long way with ModCloth’s Best Studs Skirt. A simple turtleneck can go a long way tucked into this embellished style.
This nautical classic looks fresh and polished with a blazer and jeans or fun and funky paired up with a bright floral mini. Or try your foreign fare with a cropped trouser and red heels or a legging with a laid back feel. For a night on the town, a stepped up sequin stripe with a leather jacket will shine on the party scene. No matter what your style, you will scream chic and sophisticated with a timeless stripe like these:
Throw on a haute red heel and you’ll be Parisian chic in no time!
While I do love to see stars in beautiful ball gowns on the red carpet, I much prefer to see their ‘real life’ street style! The Beverly Hills bohemians seem to always get it right with their casual cool style. You can get your California casual look with one of these fashionable footwear choices from heels.com.
Get wrapped up this season with furry details, but keep it faux so PETA doesn’t come a ‘calling. There is something about that cozy fabric that adds an element of style to an otherwise drab ensemble. Try fur head to toe, on everything from outerwear to boots, just don’t wear them all at once. One of the simplest ways to add a little fur in your life is the fur collared jacket which looks great with everything in your wardrobe. Be a little more fashion forward and belt a fur vest over a long sleeve tee and a skinny pant or throw it on over a dress to glam up your look. Make a style investment this season with one of these faux fur alternatives and you can have a clear fashion conscience.
How will you wear fur this fall?
If you haven’t jumped on the Glee train (bus?) then you have surely been missing out on some quality television. I just can’t get enough of the singing, dancing and best of all, the fashion! While there was no sign of Miss Emma Pillsbury on last night’s season premiere, there was still great entertainment to be had and a few new characters in the hallways. Here are my top three favorite scenes, in no particular order:
Recruiting New Glee Club Members singing Empire State of Mind at lunchtime.
What’s better than New York, right? Well shoes from (Kenneth Cole) NY, obviously! Perfect for all those Glee club dance numbers.
New student Sunshine does an incredible rendition of Lady Gaga’s Telephone in the school bathroom. This gal’s voice is amazing!
Know what else is amazing? These sunshine-y Naughty Monkey heels worthy of Gaga’s approval and perfect for your fall wardrobe.
My favorite scene of the night was when Finn tried our for the Cheerios, the school’s cheerleading squad. Being a former cheerleader myself, I couldn’t quit laughing at his stellar dance moves!
You too can show your school spirit in this Senorita heel from Paris Hilton available in all your favorite school colors.
Next weeks episode is dedicated to the one and only Britney Spears, so make sure to check it out!
The party season is quickly approaching and there is nothing like a good party and a good high heel pump to go with it. Except for maybe the candy, turkey and presents that go along with said holidays. Try a black dress with a colorful heel to serve up your holiday fare or add some sparkle to your family gathering with a pewter pump. From Halloween happenings to cocktails at Christmas, you’ll be the center of attention in these pretty party pumps.
What is your favorite holiday and heel to go with it?
The talk of the town (er, city) this weekend was Miss Jessica Simpson herself appearing at our local Queen City Belk department store. While I didn’t get to meet her myself (no thanks to the husband) rumor has it she was very friendly to the fans and tiny in person! Not that she looks huge, but the media tends to give JS a hard time when it comes to weight matters. Miss Simpson spent her time in the Queen City promoting her new JS Collection jeans and signing autographs for her adoring fans. She was even live tweeting pics of fans in their new Jessica Simpson duds. Even better yet, she was sporting the Gano platform from her own shoe collection, one of heels.com faves!
Try one of this great Jessica Simpson styles next time you’re shopping for a sassy heel for fall:
Unless you were hiding under a rock this week, you probably know that New York Fashion Week is upon us bringing you the hottest designs for Spring 2011. I know what you’re thinking, “Didn’t we just get to fall?” The fashion world is always one season ahead of the game showing the trends for the upcoming season for buyers to buy and editors to publish. One show that didn’t disappoint was Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. clothing line and I love seeing what she has coming up for next season. While a lot of designer lines are not completely wearable, I find L.A.M.B. to not only be wearable, but also priced within reason for the average fashionista. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the runway and a few footwear choices from L.A.M.B. that are wearable now and into the spring season.
Zan in Dark Brown Leather
Do you love a little L.A.M.B.?
Who says you have to put those shorts away for fall? Get the most out of your summer wear by pairing shorts with a great pair of tights. If you are lucky enough to work in a casual office atmosphere then this is a great workday look, otherwise keep this trend for a casual date night or weekend wear. This bohemian chic style looks great with a wool menswear short or try layering some cutoff jorts (jean shorts) over tights for a look like Nicole Richie’s:
Pair those shorts and tights with a loose fitting blouse for a look with a little bit of sex appeal and whole ‘lotta style. Add a sky high suede pump or a trendy ankle bootie to your ensemble and you’ll be a grade A fashionista this fall.
From the OC to fashion icon, Rachel Bilson has won over the fashion world with her sweet signature California style. Rachel also mixes the best of both worlds, vintage with new and high-end designer with budget brands to achieve her cool and comfy look. What girl doesn’t have at least one of Bilson’s effortless chic ensembles in their style files? Take a cue from Bilson and toughen up a pretty polka dot dress with this season’s hottest ankle booties:
