Winter is kickin butt in the Midwest right now.  I’m talking below-zero, frost-on-the-inside-of-the-windows cold. It’s wretched. I want to cover myself in pelts and settle into a cave beside some big, warm bears.

Since hibernation is not really an option (I do, at least occasionally, have to leave the house) I’ve decided the next best thing is animal prints on my feet. And there are lots of options out there. This time of year, however, strappy and peeptoe are out of the question–frostbit would totally clash with my pedicure.

I found a couple great options in pumps. First is this zebra print from oh…DEER. The stacked heel plus the platform plus the bright sole equals I’m getting warmer already.

A giraffe print like this one from Boutique 9 will make me feel tall  (which is unusual) and warm. Strike that–the pointed toe and patent heel aren’t warm–they’re pretty hot.

My fave animal print, always, is leopard. And this wedge from Steve Madden would be  sturdier and more stable on all those potentially icy sidewalks. Plus the buckle detail is adorable.

And for those days when I want to avoid heels all together–and have a little traction–here’s a flat from Poetic License that features a rubber sole and a Mary Jane-ish strap.
