“Heel, Toe”

No matter how often we ladies hear from podiatrists and the countless number of health articles floating around the internet how bad wearing heels are for our health, we must have our 4 inch heels tucked away. Whether it’s a night on the town with a special someone or a “Sex and the City” premiere with the girls, a nice pair of heels compliments any outfit. So now that we’ve come to the conclusion that heels are a must, how can we wear them comfortably?
First, we can stop trying to squeeze our size 8 foot into a size 6 shoe! Next time you go into a shoe store get your foot measured because as we get older the width and general size of our feet can change, so having the right size is the first step for comfort. The next thing that we can do is add a comfortable pair of heel cushions to make wearing heels for long periods of time a much more pleasant experience. You can find heel cushions at your local drugstore and my personal favorite brand is Foot Petals.
Foot Petals offers stylish solutions to make any pair of heels feel heavenly from every angle! Last, but definitely not least, after we have the right size and the right dressings for our sexy stilettos we have to learn to walk properly in them so we can avoid injury because pain doesn’t always triumph over beauty! Just think “heel, toe, heel, toe” with your shoulders back and head held high with confidence.
After all, it’s our heels that make us stand out from the crowd. Pilates on a regular basis can help to center the body and improve balance which can result in a meaner walk too!
Here are my top 3 favorite heels of the moment:

I’ve always heard it was bad to walk “Heel, toe” because it causes most people to rock their foot like they would in flats– which will cause the heel to break/lead to injuries… most things I’ve read suggest that you walk flat footed to prevent this.
Anyone else know one way or the other?

My podiatrist always suggested heel toe because flat footed would lead to more strain on the knees.

It drives me nuts to hear contrasting information like that– though who would argue with their podiatrist?!

I know! I think it depends on the person too because some people have signature walks that don’t follow the heel, toe or flat foot rule

With how “graceful” I am, I just do whatever gets me from point A to point B. Haha. :) PS: LOVE the black Tizzy sandal. DAYUM! :)

I really struggle to keep walking ‘heel to toe’. I end up taking much smaller steps and it feels incredibly precarious. I just hope I’m not damaging my feet by walking with flat steps, when I wear heels.
