Nautical touches seem to reappear each season, as the trend varies slightly with each designer’s interpretation. Crisp stripes, knotted bows, and canvas or rope fabrics are some of the basics of the trend. However, changing navy for black is a great way to modernize the nautical look, yet still remain with its simple, crisp theme. Black and white stripes can be very striking, but they can also be subtle and nautical-esque when the colors are not stark, but rather slightly blended together on soft fabric.
Check out Bruno Frisoni’s “ribbon platform” for $1095 at Saks 5th Ave. While this shoe will certainly break the bank, it is a good example of how to use black and white in a complementary fashion. The shoe’s oversized bow and pin thin silver heel make this shoe the perfect choice to glam up any dress.
If you are looking for a heel in which the stripes embody the nautical trend, check out L.A.M.B.’s Dominic Heel in navy. The large knotted bows, navy and white stripes, and matching striped heel are all funky touches on such a classic trend. Available for $319.99 at Heels.com.
