The Mary Jane was, once upon a time, a shoe worn by little girls and sensible school teachers. Mary Jane has come full circle! The Mary Jane is no longer just an ugly brown shoe with a sensible strap and a functional buckle.

Found this bit of trivia courtesy of Wikipedia: Mary Jane was a character created by Richard Outcault for his comic strip, Buster Brown, first published in 1902. Mary Jane was the sister of the title character, Buster Brown. The style of shoe Buster Brown's sister wore came to be known by her name, Mary Jane.

That Mary Jane is the past, welcome the new Mary Jane: hip, sexy, and comfortable. This Mary Jane is versatile, able to go to the office or out on the town, anywhere. Here are a few of my favorite selections from Heels.com:

Betty Maryjane - Black
Corco Cosmo Mary Jane - available in both black and brown.

Candy Maryjane - Saddle
Corco Cosmo Mary Jane - with a slight twist to the buckle.

Annabel - Tan
Luichiny Annabel - (my favorite) a boot/Mary Jane - so cute!
