So many trends, so little time. But one hot shoe trend you should invest in for this spring is the caged shoe. Powerfully sexy and fiercely flirtatious, this style of shoe is one that can easily last through fall by pairing it with matching opaque tights, so you get more bang for your buck.

What exactly is a caged shoe? A caged shoe features a trellis-type design that literally cages the foot. It’s different than a gladiator sandal, which is designed with a center vertical strap with connected horizontal straps. A caged shoe will more than likely involve more straps in the design, in various configurations, giving it a more aggressive look than the gladiator.

One tip when wearing your caged shoes this spring and summer: wear sunscreen on your feet. Avoid getting a tan while wearing these intricate, strappy shoes, or you could end up with some funky-looking tan lines. See below for recommended caged shoes from Heels.com:

This sandy-colored pair from L.A.M.B. is by far my favorite!

The electric blue highlights of this caged shoe from Pour La Victoire brings into play another hot spring trend: electric hues.

You’ll keep this pair from Jessica Simpson forever. And the price is incredibly economical.

Part of Your World

When I was growing up, I loved Ariel, also known as the Little Mermaid, so much that I wanted to be her. Isn’t it every ariellittle girl’s dream to play in the water all day, treasure hunting, singing songs, daydreaming about boys? No? Just mine?

Ariel is whimsical, curious, and bubbly, with a slight rebellious streak.  A gal like that needs shoes to match such a sweet yet strong personality. A gal like that was meant to wear great shoes… After all, she is a princess!

Who can forget when she’s dancing around in her secret treasure trove, dreaming of dancing around on… “What do they call those again? Oh yeah. Feet.” I fully believe that when she was saying she wanted to be part of OUR world, it was because she wanted to wear shoes.

A lifetime of having a tail would definitely make me yearn for the highest and brightest heels, such as Report Signature Pamona Heel in (what else?) Coral:

If I had grown up with a tail for a lower body, the first thing I’d do after becoming human (after kissing Prince Eric, of course) would be to log on to Heels.com and buy massive amounts of shoes. You’ve got these brand new feet, time to dress them up! Paris Hilton’s Dream Wedge in Blue would be perfect to show off lots of leg.

But even with legs, Ariel is still a mermaid at heart and the sea is her home. With that in mind, she’d definitely want shoes in bright tones that remind her of the ocean: teal blue, coral, seashell pink, sand colored. A lot of open toes, and a lot of sandals, as shoes might be a bit foreign to her! She could take a break from heels with the Corso Como Fair Sandal in Blue, a personal favorite of mine.

Then of course, there’s the L.A.M.B. Tegan Heel in Nude, complete with rope detail for a slightly nautical touch. These shoes are perfect for shopping for even more shoes! Which, with all this talk about shoes, I think I need to do!

Classic bride - This stunning pair of open-toed Chinese Laundry Willy Heel in ivory.  The satin stilettos add a little shimmer and shine, but leave you with a very clean and classy finish.

Princess bride – It is after all your day.  Why not be fitted like a princess?  Try these Enzo Angiolini Minerva Heels.  Silver satin and a pretty crystal embellishment make you feel like the belle at the ball (or wedding!).

Beach baby bride - Opting for that destination wedding?  Heels are going to get stuck in a sand trap on your way down to the alter.  Opt for a beautiful sandal instead.  Like these Jaci Sandals by Report.  White leather is accented by silver metal decor, leaving you with an islandy feel, but pretty as can be.

Youthful cute bride – Feeling cutesy on your special day?  Bows are certainly a part of the cuter and younger wedding appeal.  The Guess? Kierna Heel is a white leather peep toe that is finished off with a delicate bow.  Leaving you feeling perfect, pure and pretty.

Laidback bride – If you are looking to go less fancy on your wedding day, than chances are you’re going to skip the satin 4 inch heel.  Opt for a ballerina flat.  You can still achieve a pretty look, but with less foot pain and more enjoyment.  This Hollywould Sophia Flat is a white leather flat, with a white ankle strap.  However beware, flats mean more dancing!

Trend setter bride – Who needs the classics?  Dare to be different with a more unusual and unlikely wedding shoe!  Like this Goldy Heel by L.A.M.B.  White patent leather and caged detailing lets out a fierce statement for bride fashionistas everywhere.
