Girls just want to have fun by Cyndi Lauper   . . . fun facts!

This was Lauper’s first single as a solo artist. She released an album in 1981 as a member of the group Blue Angel.

The video, which ran constantly on MTV, featured wrestler Captain Lou Albano as Lauper’s father. It won the first ever award for Best Female Video at the 1984 Video Music Awards. Albano was also in her next video, “Tim After Time.”

This was a huge part of ’80s culture. Not only did the song became an anthem for female attitude, but it set fashion trends as the video showed Lauper wearing bright, outrageous clothes that looked like they came from a thrift store (they often did). It set the stage for artists like Madonna – independent women wearing cheap, yet fashionable clothes and who like to accessorize.

In 2004, Carnival Cruise Lines used this in a series of commercials.

A woman should wear fragrance wherever she expects to be kissed

quote from Coco Chanel.

In 1922 Chanel introduced a perfume, Chanel No. 5, which remains popular today.

History:

According to one story Coco Chanel commissioned the renowned perfumer Ernest Beaux to make six perfumes for her choosing. They were labelled No. 1, No. 2, etc. through No. 6. It was bottle No. 5 that was to Chanel’s liking and became the chosen formula. The number “5″ was also her lucky number.

At the time of its inception, the most expensive perfume oil was jasmine due to the expensive distilling process. Chanel wanted to create the most expensive perfume in the world, and as such No. 5 relies heavily on jasmine.

Chanel introduced it first to some of her friends on May 5, 1921. Initially, it was given to preferred clients for free at her boutique. The fitting rooms in her boutique were also scented with No. 5.
