the-juno-movie-poster_402x568An unlikely teen fashion icon, yet lovable and certainly memorable teenager, Juno kept it real, and kept it casual with her style via button-up shirts, hoodies, and relaxed-fit jeans. It would be quite apropos for her notable wit and sarcasm to surface in her clothing, hence, I decided to let it translate into the footwear Juno would potentially wear throughout the movie ( her pregnancy), and even throughout the rest of her high school days. Besides the obvious, being a Converse-like sneaker, Juno would definitely wear flats – catching her in heels would be completely out of character! Below are some suggestions that Juno would approve of, and certainly make up some candid verbal expression to reiterate how cool they are:

The cartoon-like face, equipped with a frown on these Marc by Marc Jacobs Frowning Ballet Flats is reminiscent of Lidia from BeetleJuice,  a dark, brooding teenager that Juno would idolize.

Juno would save these Marc By Marc Jacobs Women’s “Miss Marc” Ballets for a day when she’s in a good mood, perhaps on the last day of classes, walking down the street with a gallon jug of Sunny D in hand.

The Betseyville Valencia Red Flats has the canvas uppers and rubber bottoms of a sneaker, but will be a nice alternative when Juno and Pauly Bleeker ditch the front stoop and stroll around the local mall instead.

Another Betseyville pick, the Betseyville Baylee Flat in Green will be reserved for when Juno’s StepMom tells her she needs to dress up for an event. Instead of sulking, Juno will stare at the anchor on her shoe strap and mutter sly jokes under her breath throughout the entire time.

While the other girls are donning sky-high heels and wedges to look even more statuesque in their cap and gown, Juno will sport these tri-colored Poetic License Lolly Flats, and you know what? I bet they’ll look even better!
Thinking about it now – I’d love to dress like Juno everyday — casual Friday just isn’t cutting it!

If Bette Davis Was a Shoe

Bette DavisI worship Bette Davis. She’s not a mainstream fashion icon, but she should be. Bette Davis was a walking contradiction, so complex and deep. She dressed and presented herself with great class, but she had the courage and attitude of a fearless military general. She could take on the bawdiest of film industry men, never backing down and never abandoning her integrity. Her eyes seduced you. Her words won you over. She was a woman ahead of her time.

If Bette Davis was a shoe, I know she would be this pretty peeptoe pump by Marc by Marc Jacobs. It’s practical yet flirty, designed to support the woman who is ready to take on the world and win.

Marc Jacobs creates shoes for every occasion. His spring collection ranges from sophisticated patent black slingbacks to red floral printed wedges. The first is perfect for your summer work suits, while a printed wedge is perfect for a low key day out on the town. As always, Jacobs has an eye for the details. A prominent silver buckle with contrasting white accents adorns the front of the black patent slingback, while the red wedge is finished with a touch of metal as well.
