Everything neon, albeit in small doses,  is extremely chic for summer 2009. Don’t just take my word for it — the spring 2009 runways were rife with neon solids and prints,  from Louis Vuitton to Lacoste and Max Mara. It’s  high time you participated in the trend too, but let’s not go overboard. The perfect way to spruce up your wardrobe would be with a bit of neon accessories in the form of footwear. I’ve picked some hot summer styles to help you get the neon look without going too 90s neon:

A Touch Of Color

If you’re not a big fan of this season’s trend of jewel toned sandals, sometimes all you need is a little color to make a big statement. While you might not want to run out and buy hot pink slides, you may love sandals that offer one hot pink strap across the front. Less is more, as a touch of color enables you to buy an eye-catching sandal without limiting your opportunities to wear it. Buy sandals with a splash of color to bring out a certain shade in a patterned dress or use them to make a casual outfit a little more interesting.

These Christian Louboutin “Comme Ca Gisa Sandals” are both fun and casual. The cork wedge is great for everyday wear, while the mix of neon green, silver, and black works surprisingly well. ($735, Saks 5th Ave.)
