Herver Leger

Herver Leger

I couldn’t help but notice skyscraper high heels during this week’s fall 2009 fashion shows, particularly at Herver Leger by Max Azria, and thought I would look into some affordable options that are available now. I found several pairs of fall 2009 inspired  four-inch heels that perfectly capture the runway ’s uber-high look, making my petite, 5′1″ height to more of an average 5′5″! Incredible! A word of caution: do not even attempt to wear these if you think you may consume more than one cocktail, encounter a cobblestone street, stand for more than 2 hours, or have to walk more than three blocks.

A Little Embellishment

Whether it’s stones, textured leather, or metallic detailing, a little embellishment goes a long way for basic walking sandals. With a bit of glitz, everyday casual sandals are instantly transformed to a sophisticated option that will give you both comfort and style when paired with a fancier dress or evening outfit. Pour La Victoire’s “Nanette” sandal uses the technique of textured leather in a different, but not contrasting color, to take the sandal from basic to funky. Available at Heels.com for $158.99.

Sam Edelman uses pearl-like metallic stones to dress up the “Ginger” sandal. The smooth stones and triple ankle strap are a bit edgy and very modern. Available for $94.99 at Heels.com.

Coco Chanel and The Little Black Dress

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous a quote from Coco Chanel

cocochanel1.jpg

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s stylish, elegant designs revolutionized fashion during the 1910s, freeing women from the uncomfortable and stiff apparel worn at the end of the 19th century. Whether by chance or by design, Chanel furthered her own image: the woman of the 20th century, embodying independence, success, personality, style, and confidence. Coco made sure women would love her products.

Coco Chanel also popularized the little black dress, whose blank-slate versatility allowed it to be worn for both day and night. The black Chanel dress was strapless, backless and more than a little risque. It shocked the general public at large but quickly became a fashion sensation

To mate with the little black dress – some classic black shoes:
