The Emmy’s Red Carpet was full of mustard hues this year and I am lusting for this beautiful hue for fall. This gorgeous color is reminiscent of fall’s changing leaves, so it is perfect for transitioning your wardrobe into the season. It also happens to pair well with fall’s IT color, oxblood. Even style icon Olivia Palermo recently paired a mustard sweater with a pair of rich burgundy trousers, creating a much sought after look that is both classic and trendy.

Want to try adding some mustard to your wardrobe? Try pairing some vibrant yellow footwear with shades of orange or turquoise for a cheery colorblocked look or let your shoes shine by pairing them with a neutral tone like grey, navy or even chocolate. Complement your closet this fall by adding one of these mustard heels to your wardrobe.

Chinese Laundry Area in Bright Mustard
The days have been miserable, gray and blustery lately. I’m wearing rain boots, my hair is a mess, and I find myself sitting at my desk daydreaming about sunshine and sandals.
I can’t do much about the weather other than wait it out (here’s hoping it will all be worth is when those May flowers finally show up), but I can certainly do something about the sandals.
There’s no better way to brighten a dreary day than shoe shopping, especially for a few pairs perfect for spring and summer in sunny yellow hues. (If the sunshine can’t be in the sky, at least it can be on my feet–it’s a good way to combat the gray.)
Here are some great picks, all with low heels for summer evening strolling and sunshiny shades to elevate my mood in the meantime.

First is this fabulous fringed flat in suede, the Scarlet Flat by Chinese Laundry.

Next is a great woven yellow leather yellow wedge, the Cameron from Frye (my favorite purveyor of boots).

And here’s a thong with a two-inch cork wedge covered in yellow leather, Laplaya by Steve Madden.

And finally a real ray of sunshine in an embellished yellow leather gladiator with a zipper detail at the heel, Giada by Sam Edelman.

The color yellow has become the new big craze. While it looks pretty on a sun dress, many people are a bit hesitant to wear the color on their feet. Don’t worry, there are ways to ease into this trend. First of all, you don’t need to buy bright yellow sandals. Go for a lighter or deeper hue, which will draw less attention to the shoe and allow you more clothing options. Pale yellow is especially feminine for summer. Check out the Lacoste “L33″ canvas sneaker. This casual walking shoe comes in six different colors, and for under $80, you don’t have to choose just one! The yellow is especially fun for summer, and all the colors pop against the crisp white trim (available at Nordstroms).

Above are the Michael by Michael Kors pale yellow wedges, which will make it effortless to incorporate yellow into your summer wardrobe (available at Nordstroms for $128.95).
